The goal of the project Learn to make decisions is to raise awareness about forms of participation of children and young people in the domain of non-formal education through the exchange of examples of best practices from four different countries.

 

 

The project participants will be representatives from Czech, Slovakian, Ukrainian, and Moldovan organizations working with children and youth in the field on non-formal education. The choice of countries is deliberate. Two countries that are members of the European Union with a communist past, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and are lately placing increasing emphasis on egaging young people in the public forum, and two countries with a Soviet past, Moldova and Ukraine where there exist both organizations of European character but also organizations with patterns of the former Soviet Union.

The project is inspired in the first place by experiences from the Czech Republic where participation of children and youth is perceived as a very important part of support of democracy by young people.

Results of research by the National Institute of children and youth’s project Keys for Life, realized in 2009, indicate that according to one third of young people, the Student councils, Children and Youth parliaments and children and youth organizations make it possible to express opinions regarding public events.

Moreover, the research indicated that only 16% of young people have a possibility to express their opinions about important events in the community where they live. Generally youg people have the impression that they have no possibility to express what they think about subjects regarding public life on local, national and international levels. 

Based on the information above, it is necessary to offer new inspiration to educational workers with children and youth for their further development and implement the aquired experiences in their work with children and youth. That in its turn will make it possible for young people to approach, discuss and solve problems regarding themselves or their surroundings.

In Czech and Slovak Republic there are functional networks of non-profit organizations working with children and youth, and leisure-time centers which work with participation of children and youth trough Children and Youth Parliaments. Based on experiences of named organizations, the project offers practical and methodological support to Moldovan and Ukrainian organizations.

At the same time Czech and Slovak project participants will acquire inspiration from the foreign  participants which will lead ultimately to better quality of their work with children and youth.

Thanks to the Summary which will be one of the results of the project, not just participants will have a possibility to get information about participation in the field of non-formal education in the four countries, inclusive methododological procedures of best practices examples from Czech and Slovak Republic.

And last, but not least, the encounter of project participants will lead to initiating of new contacts and creating of organizations with similar orientation. That will lead to further collaboration and expansion of educational projects regarding citizenship.

Meeting of project  participants and multilateral exchange of best practices in the field of participation of youth will happen between October 31 to November 4 2011 in Prague, Czech Republic.

The basic aims and tasks

MCAYP – organizational, methodical and coordinating leisure center

• Coordinating activities of city leisure centers by means of continuous training, realizing city competitions among leisure center’s tutors and facilitators.
• Organizing city shows, competitions, exhibitions, festivals aiming to present student’s achievements and stimulate their creative development.
• Managing children and youth actions and projects: “Minsk is my city”, “Youth against AIDS”, “Youth against drugs” etc.
• Developing programs, methodical and normative maintenance for city leisure centers. Mastering information technologies. Editing methodical literature.
• Developing social partnership – engaging scientists and specialists from different areas: engineering, culture, art, public organizations in MCAYP’s work.

 

MCAYP – State educational institution

• Promoting the image of MCAYP as a unique organization among children, teenagers, their parents and political institutions.
• Elaborating complex purposes for educational sphere of the Palace, developing normative and law basis for the institution.
• Increasing the level of professional skills of the employees through the system of continuous training, analytical activities and project developing.
• Creating possibilities for improving psychological and pedagogical interaction.
• Promoting social and cultural potential of the city of Minsk among the teachers with the purpose of developing possibilities for civic and political illiteracy elimination amongst the young citizens.

Фестивал состоится уже в девятый раз, причем каждый год проходит в разных европейских городах. Местные учреждения, студенты и общественность даного региона имеют возможность встретится с Европейским одделением организации  MitOst.

Основная тема фестиваля:  О помощи и чести из другой стороны: Новые формы общественной заинтересованности

·         Новая заинтересованность в области охраны окружающей среды

·         Дигитальный импульс деятельности

   On May 27, 2011 the President and members of  Board of the European Association for Leisure Time Institutions of Children and Youth visited the Palace to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Tbilisi National Youth Palace. On the same day the meeting of the Association Board took place at the Tbilisi-City Hotel. The meeting was attended by the representatives from Czech Republic, France, South Africa, Poland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Germany, Lithuania, Ukraine, Latvia, Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Russia and Georgia. The guests had meetings with teachers and students of the Youth Palace studios. They talked about the forms and methods of teaching. The guests were especially interested in the work of the clubs and activities of the creative unions. They got acquainted with  American  corner  the  Department of  children’s international relations and the "Pionerfilm” studio. They saw local history museum and exhibition of the works done by the pupils from the studio of fine and applied arts. A concert was arranged with participation of creative collectives of the palace at the end of the day in Mirror Hall after which the guests presented memorable gifts to the Jubilee Palace.

  On May 28, 2011 the Chairman of Tbilisi City Assembly Zaal Samadashvili gave a reception to the President and Board of European Association for Leisure Time    Institutions of Children and Youth. After interesting talk  in Tbilisi City Hall rewarded the participants of the meeting with diplomas and medals Friend of Georgian Culture.
